Play your part as local Covid-19 cases increase

With the summer holidays fast approaching please continue to take the appropriate measures to protect yourself and those around you from illness.

There has been a recent increase in local Covid-19 cases in Wiltshire, and people are being reminded to ensure their vaccinations are up to date and be mindful of the symptoms so that the risk of passing it onto other people is reduced.

With the summer holidays just a few weeks away, please continue to take the appropriate measures to protect yourself and those around you from illness, to help avoid you having to change plans and miss out on any fun activities you have planned.

At the beginning of June the seven-day average of those with COVID-19 was 53.1 per 100,000 but in recent weeks that has increased to 171 per 100,000. You can keep up to date on the latest data by visiting the Government dashboard at  Cases in Wiltshire | Coronavirus in the UK (data.gov.uk)

The current advice is that if you have any symptoms of a respiratory infection, and a high temperature or feel unwell, try to stay at home or away from others – especially those who are elderly or vulnerable.

To help reduce the spread of Covid-19 and other respiratory infections and protect those at highest risk you can:

  • Get vaccinated
  • Let fresh air in if meeting others indoors
  • Practise good hygiene:
    • wash your hands
    • cover your coughs and sneezes
    • clean your surroundings frequently
  • Wear a face covering or a face mask, particularly if you are in crowded and enclosed spaces.
